Brandenton, Sarasota Florida?

Frack was thinking maybe going down to Brandenton Florida for a while. It's right next door to Sarasota. Any information about performing down there? Anyone live around this area?

The only thing in that area a freak might be interested in is the circus. The Bradenton area is where several circuses winter, including Ringling. I think this is where they also have their clown college.

Better hats would be a little to the north in St Petersburg, Tampa (Ybor City) and lastly Pier 60, Clearwater Beach at sunsets. Best hats in Florida would be in Miami and Key West.

I lived in Sarasota for 4 years. Right next to the Ringling Museum actually. There isn't anywhere I know of in Bradenton ... and nothing established in Sarasota. But I did well just going downtown or to St. Armands Circle (a posh touristy shopping district bordering Lido Beach) and setting up ... I was the only one out there but the pay was fantastic - though there's no place for a circle show... just sidewalk stuff. And the cops are quite prone to haranguing and show-stopping antics. Season is ending but depending on your act it could work... especially if you get permission from one of the store owners to use their sidewalk space (I could recommend a few)..
Actually, also in downtown Sarasota on Saturday mornings there is a farmer's market.. crafts sold, etc. You could probably get something going there, or at some of the many regular art fairs. If you are actually going to these parts and want more info, feel free to email me and I'll tell you more ...

Key West is O.K. You can make a nice hat, todays crowd looks great, but it isn't what it could be. Some smart acts are playing here for a day and moving on. Rumor heard on the street here makes Clearwater a better choice. I'm going to split soon. Flooglestreet

Bullshit. Either Floogle is scamming, or they have heard an extremely poor rumor. Sounds to me like someone is trying to wave people off from attempting the Keys.

i agree with the fact that there is nowhere in bradenton!! however, i lived in sarasota some time ago. my first atempts at a street show was here. (i had just come off the road with a circus)
st. armands can be good, but yes, the cops can be assholes.
there is also a pitch that i worked for awhile at the park near "marina jacks" . it is a little water fountain/park that was designed to have kids play in. during the summer months, the fountains shut off at sunset. because it is a park (and on the west coast), people are out to see the sunset. good for at least one good show a night.
clearwater though is the best alternative to key west.
