this message is regaurding the negative feedback that was posted about this festival by chance.
his show didn't stand a chance!!!
my name is dallas, i I have been THE ANCHOR at pier 60 for about seven years. Yes, Chance, i sure you remember me, or my very loud crowds. I also am aware of the people you wronged when you were here.(you know what it's about}
About the festival, the winters are fair, springbreak, alright and summers are great.(if you can stand the heat)
If you have a strong show, you will do well all year long. I HAVE!
Prepare yourself for loud bands(amplification is alright)
tell them dallas sent you!!!!
good luck
Sorry guy, but the only jugglers (based on the icon you selected) working Pier 60 while I was there (other than a few straglers coming in for a day or two at a time) was Wade Henry, Dextre Tripp and Ray Jason.
To me Dallas is a place in Texas.
And while you may be working Pier 60 at the moment (or not), and while you are entitled to your own opinions (just like we all are) I absolutely stand by every word I wrote in previous messages.
If you really are there at the moment, why don't you give Edi a kiss for me.

it's quite obvious you have a memory lapse. you start(ed) your show with "black cat"
i just spoke with Wade about your comments on the pitch and we agreed on the fact that you were a "straggler".
and upon mentioning your name to edi she frowned.
ray jason was also only there for a short time.
Sorry Dallas, still doesn't ring a bell, especially since you haven't described your own act to help jog my memory.
And if after taking an apartment for 12 months on Sunset Point Road, AFTER working out of an 33-foot RV for 10 months, I am still considered a "straggler", it must set some kind of world record.
Don't take it so hard. So I don't remember you -- so what?
Have a great summer anyway!

Chance and dallas:
Wow. Listen to the two of you crow! Like a couple of cocks posturing for a spot to scratch! I do hope that there is some subtle double entendre in the dialog that I am not party to. It seems a shame to me to find that someone would feel so defensive about different show experiences.
While I am at it, what's the "anchor" act? Is this a self-awarded title or something that is declared due to seniority or stature?
I guess that I have only worked in controlled environments with casts and schedules imposed by management, so it seems I have been spared the experience of dealing with turf claims or disputes. The whole idea seems ludicrous to me. Correct me if I am wrong, but based on the stories I have read about fist fights and performers attacking other performers, this sort of thing is a regular occurrence, eh? Why be so hostile? Are there really that many acts out there that are so good, with so few street corners to support them, that they must compete with one another backstage? JHC, I only wish that I had my shit together so much that I had no other alternative to improve my situation other than to undermine someone else's act, thereby making mine look better. Is it possible to rise above the gutter grime and show some pride and respect for oneself and one's peers? Wouldn't that be better for everyone?
You will have to excuse me if I have read the dialog inappropriately. Sometimes it's funny reading all of the posts everyone makes. Often, I have to try to decipher the underlying meaning. So many performers.net folk have had histories with each other, and know each other face to face. After wading through all of the pages of blather, and contributing to the rapport as well, for the past year and a half, I feel like I know many of you, but in fact, I can only think of two that I have actually met in person! It sure makes for a bizarre interactive environment...

Could you repeat that, Steve? Its gonna take a few more postings to get through here. Looking for double entendre in this shitstorm is like trying to find good sushi in a barrel of monkeys. Your objective is quickly eclipsed, but you find yourself grateful to put the lid back on.
I never did get around to nominating your website for best of, by the way, but it is surely at the top.

Steven-
The only thing dumber than some of the issues put on public display on these boards, is for someone totally dis-connected from the parties to butt in and claim the moral high ground.
As for this particular thread, there isn't any hidden agenda or double 'anything' -- at least as far as I am concerned. Quite simply, I don't know or remember this guy Dallas, even though, according to his letters here, he was suppossedly the senior act at a certain (and very insignificant) busking pitch in central Florida -- a place where I worked nightly for about 2 years.
Maybe we met there, maybe we didn't. All I am saying is that I don't remember him by name. Maybe if I saw him face to face, or knew more about his act, but whatever. Obviously, though, as 'anchor' he didn't leave a very lasting impression.
And if this seems like crowing to you, I would advise a vegan diet.

Yeah, you're right, but you see, I'm just a bored as you guys. Anyway, if the content were of such a personal nature, I would be happy to introduce you to a wonderful technology: I call it E-Mail.
And I still don't know what the anchor act is in a street venue...
Sorry if I stepped into a little love nest. I'll see ya' all on another thread - maybe a topic a little more substantial perhaps? Maybe not?

I'm bored too!
Hey Chance there's a little icon with a person standing next to a house at the top of each post, if you click it you'll see Dallas's web-site. I doubt it'll be much use though.
Steve, I'd define "the" anchor of a pitch as a performer for whatever reason does not travel and only works one or two pitches in a single geographic area.
A self-defined anchor(who implies non-goegraphic reasons for anchorship)is an inflated bouy.
Dallas, that doesn't look much like an anchor's website.

the only thing that i wanted from this posting is to let performers know that this pitch has developed over the last 7 years.
what started as a very small festival (10 vendors, dexter, wade, and I), has now grown to about 100 vendors(during busy months) and several acts from key west that pass through regularly.
the only problem with the pitch is that they have a band nightly which makes it tough for those performers who can not vocalize.
i in no way was trying to say that myself or anyone elses show was superior to another.
i only wanted to state the truth about the pitch. IT HAS GROWN

Ummm, if thats the only thing you wanted us to know, why did you say all the other stuff?

As the event producer for Sunsets at Pier 60 I would like to add my input to this discussion. First of all Dallas, thank you for your loyalty and support of the festival. We miss you very much and eagerly anticipate your return home. Chance, there's not much point in my attempting to sway your opinion or reverse the smear campaign you are launching against our event. Sunsets at Pier 60 has a proven track record for providing quality entertainment in a venue that is geared towards young children and families. I have it on good authority that you were given many opportunities to tailor your show more toward the audience at our event and chose to continue making numerous inappropriate comments and the festival received several complaints about your behavior. The Sunsets Festival welcomes street performers to our venue and treats them with courtesy and respect as long as they adhere to the guidelines given them. I hope that our response will encourage those of you who may be interested in us to give it a try before you take the word of someone who may have his own agenda in mind.
Gotta love those unsigned anonymous letters!
But aside from that, what "smear campaign" are we speaking of here? Please show me where I made even one such comment...
I worked that pitch for the first two seasons of its development, long before it became so well known. In fact, it could easily be argued that I helped it along that path. I lived in Clearwater, had a home there, worked every day and night weather permitting -- meaning hundreds of shows -- and I was never at any time sanctioned from performing there.
In short, contrary to your post [Anonymous] I have no agenda to speak of.
What I did say in an earlier letter is that the management of Pier 60 at that time (five years ago) was very anal retentive, and tried to censor me from using the word "neuter" during my show. I also suggested that the hats there are smallish. This is not a smear, this is the simple truth!!
Obviously, whoever you are, you have been listening to Dallas too much (who ever this guy is) and not doing enough of your own research here on these boards.
Talk about having an agenda, sheesh!

I see you've had your "Mug" neutered from your posts Chance, I applaud your self-censorship.
