Anyone know what the deal with Munich is? I hear you need a permit for each day you work and can only get a permit for three days but maybe the cops don't hassel you much.
Any info would be much appreciated.

I don't know how it is now and I can't imagine it has changed much (ha!) but since you asked and there's been no reply to your query, I thought I'd toss mine in. I was there last in '95 during the Octoberfest and it was fine -- no hassles of any kind. Work was not my main objective; libations with m'lady took precedence over other trite concerns. Nevertheless, I did a fair number of shows in the Marienplatz, or whatever it's called, over a period of ten days or so.

If, by some wierd quirk of fate, there is some foolish permit system now, just go somewhere else -- there's plenty of other great towns/cities in Germany and the surrounding countries.

Already went to Munich and aside from the bad weather it's a bad place to work. They do have a permit that you have to buy each day for 5 Euro. It's really for musicians, that's what it says on the top. I did one show (in between the rain) and as soon as it was over a guy from the civic office where you get the permit started yelling at me in German... Basically you are not allowed to use and amp and he said my crowd was too big. He took the permit away and said if I played again (with or without the amp) he would call the police. Munich sucks, unless you are a statue or music act don't bother wasting your time.
