Larry-

Sorry to hear about your troubles. My car took a dive in central Texas a few years back, so I know what you're feeling about now.

Central Florida is an area I know well (up to 1998 at least), so here are some ideas...

*Daytona has a nice promenade lining the beach. Lots of space for shows on the sidewalk and grassy areas.

*Tampa has an area called Ybor City, which is the old Cuban part of town. Very beautiful and touristic, and on the weekends they block the main drag and it becomes a large pedestrian zone. But, it is very loud then so I would recommend a microphone.

*Clearwater Beach, not far from Tampa. Every night (!!) there is a Sunset Celebration at Pier 60, the large fishing pier. The festival goes from 2 hours before sunset to an hour after, but the beaches are free to busk at any time. The festival promoter might tell you different, but that's only because they want to keep all performances closer to sunset. I would go there first if at all possible.

*Orlando used to have some nice busking but I heard that it has gone down hill. It is on the way to Tampa and Clearwater so you might want to try it out, but personally I would give it a miss and go straight to Clearwater Beach.

Hope that helps.

When i'm not bloodying fellow buskers noses I try my hardest to stick my tongue as far up peoples asses as possible. My dated 5 year old experiences should help you immensely and if not at least show people that i really have an affinity with compatriots who don't amplify my desperation, I after all have had car troubles, are we not brothers? Remember that i love you unless you get between me and my shallow need for an income based on my generic inflated nonentity and remember also that people who disagree with me are only foolishly adding to my legend as the best damn escapoligist who ever lived.
If you do stupidly not accept me as an a missunderstood genius then i can only say that i will blacken your name with the bottom of the barrel agencies who still find me attractive. You have been warned.
Anyone who objects to me simply amplifies my immence presence.
I'm off to reinvent myself now cos the world is full of dipshits.

As you can see Larry, Martin is always bending over backwards to help a busker in need. Why, I'm surprised Martin hasn't already sent you his credit card number so that you might get your car repaired. Or better still: Martin, why not swing down to Daytona on your way to New Orleans and pick Larry up and take him with you to NOLA?

Larry,

We talked on the phone. I have recently been appointed as "busker Coordinator" at the Sunsets at Pier 60 Daily festival, Clearwater Beach, Florida.

I also am the only licensed street performer on the Boardwalk in Daytona Beach. The person to contact there is Dino at the Joyland Arcade. The permit is $250.00/ year . I have been working this pitch for about five years every summer.

I have also been a regular performer at Pier 60 since 1995.

If anyone is intersested in performing at our event please send me your promo material to humanvolcano@hotmail.com

Or you can visit my website at www.beaumanz.com (http://www.beaumanz.com) and see some pictures of some the crowds we have regularly.

The rules have changed quite a bit at our event. So I highly recommend contacting me directly at (727)449-1910 before coming!!!

There is also a little known pitch in Ft. Myers. it is in an area known as Times Square. I worked this pitch for about a year a couple of years ago. I am not sure if they have made any changes regarding this pitch, but the contact person used to be jean Mathews.
I went infront of the city commission to allow performances and they were in agreeance.

good luck
