Hi Matt man, why do you want to leave out Amsterdam?. I will be there in June getting ready for the big Magic do in July. Was going to work Amsterdam and party a bit before FISM 2003. (big magic convention) and if your around I was going to by you beers for all your help before with the LAS FALAS (spelt wrong I know) I didnt make it up to Valencia but stayed in Denia. Was Ok, for a small festival. Except for all the bloody fire crackers going off right in the middle of my show .lololo ....

Anyway talk too you soon mate.

Rotterdam is about as big as Amsterdam, but lacks the heaps of tourrorists in the city center. But Rotterdam is upcoming at the moment and I'd love to see more buskers coming here.

As for the licences... In Amsterdam you should have one. In other cities the flow of buskers is so low, that you can get away with a lot.

If you are coming to Rotterdam, get in touch, I live there!

What types of shows can be done out there in Rotterdam? Are there many pitches? I spent some time working in Amsterdam last year and was thinking about exploring more of Holland this summer.
Any info would be great!
Thanks.

And what about families , is there a tradition of people wandering about the cities on warm evenings ? Or are the cities daed as in England ? Can you play in parks and childrens playgrounds as in Spain ?

There aren't any pitched in Rotterdam with a regular "scene", like in Amsterdam. But there's many places that you could work if you like. Some do well, others don't... The shows that can be done depend on your skills, I guess... biggrin.gif

There's a buskers festival in Rotterdam:
Rotterdams Straatfestival (http://www.rotterdams-straatfestival.nl/)

Another option is Oerol festival, which also has a buskers section: Oerol (http://www.oerol.nl)
Oerol doesn't pay you much, they won't fly you over, but if you're around anyway, it's a great festival.

Holland doesn't have as much as an outdoor culture as southern Europe and the streets do get emtpy in many cities, like in Rotterdam. Amsterdam tends to get a bit more crowded.
