quick note: I'm not currently trying to get gigs, I want potential audience members to read the bio if interested and decide I'd be fun to watch, or atleast this bio will fertilize their interest. So, I'm trying to make it easy and fun to read. It's for my website. Thanks for your crits. Butterfly, go easy on the fawning.

Before age 11, Scot Nery was simply wasting time. On November 9th, 1989, he broke free from his cocoon of apathy – a beautiful swan of entertainment. After making friends with a professional magician, Scot began rehearsing, writing, and reaping professional magic gigs of his own. “I was young. I blew all my money on candy and women... I was young.” His stage experience and natural charm helped him become the youngest actor, and star in his junior high’s annual musical production, “The Dreams of Jimmy James”.

By the time Scot was 15 years old, he had a reputation as one of the best entertainers in northern Ohio. “My performing evolved, I went from being a big fish in a big pond, to being an amphibious creature on the beach.” He learned the basics of juggling, unicycling, and acrobatics from books. His new shows swelled with comedy, and a dynamic approach to the variety arts.

At 21, Nery was ready for full-time. He quit all other employment, and began spanning the United States and panning for tips as a street performer. “The streets are the best school. You learn fast and it’s ok to hook up with the teachers.“ In less than a year, he had a tour contract to be a warm-up act for Brooks & Dunn (#1 country music duo); performing for crowds of 15,000+ screaming fans per amphitheater.

Scot is now 26 years old[b/], producing his own shows, which break the bounds of what most people consider “normal” magic/ juggling/comedy events. [b]“We’re all different. Especially me.” Each of Scot Nery’s shows expands on the last, making the next more creative, profound, and profligate. If you dislike poor quality entertainment, Scot Nery is definitely not someone you should avoid failing to miss.

“I want to make every show kind of ‘Fun With Life’. Life is cool if you don’t take it seriously. When dead, painters are valuable; performers are boring.”

Scot, butterflies, not swans, emerge from cocoons.

What happened on November 9th?

High school is two words.

The quotes are cute, but the paragraphs are too long.

The second to last sentence is overloaded with double negatives. It should be amusing, but is just too much work to sort out, and looses impact.

A punchier final quote would be better. The one you've got is weak.

A nice guy, a nice idea. Trim it down, punch it up.

Dear Scot,

Your bio. explains a lot ... specifically, your one eyebrow and prehensile toes. (sorry to fawn)

and my favorite line is:

"Scot Nery is definitely not someone you should avoid failing to miss." ...

what a great line ...

... you just might be the missing link ...

"Labyrinthadont Lad"

... kinda has a ring to it don'tchathink?
