View Full Version : Hand Puppets
I need two hand puppets. Think: Kermit or Fozzy the Bear type.
Anyone know of a good source for these?
Thanks.

Are you looking for specific characters? How would they be used? I make puppets of all types & could either talk you through making them yourself (or direct you to resources for doing it yourself) or make 'em for you (for a modest fee) or direct you to other resources to buy.
But I need to know more about what you're lookin for.
You can check out some of my work at:
Circus Minimus Puppetry (http://www.littlerednose.com)
and
Galumph Interactive Theater (http://www.galumph.org)
pretty much all of the puppets on both sites are my creations, but I've also done more "muppet-style" stuff.
Not specific characters. A couple of aliens or odd looking, non-humans would do.
I'll be using them in a sketch show.

Also check out www.axtell.com. Lots of wacky creatures and animal puppets, mostly in latex. Axtell is quite highly regarded in puppetry and ventriloquism circles.
Should have posted this.
went with drpuppet.com. A little bit o' drama. But the puppets are nice and well made. Just don't expect total professionals and he'll do fine.

I use a small handpuppet very occaisionally, its characters name is 'inappropiate response'
It doesn't speak as such but makes disgusted noises and sighs impatiently.
I fashioned it from discarded skin from a burns unit, (it really is about who you know.)
I shaped and cured it, its mostly inside thigh.
It has hollow sockets in which I use fresh sheep eyeballs.
I relish the delight that quicksilver flits across the expressive dials of the childrens faces
as I appear to pluck out the eye of my handpuppet and fling it at their faces.
any large mammels lower bowel, once isolated and sterilised,
can easily be made to fit over a clenched fist.
Roadkill also can be made into inexpensive, high impact handpuppets.
Animals that in life would have been incompatible can be made to love each other
in roadkill handpuppet theatre (.com)
Last Phish concert tomorrow, somewhere in Vermont, will report back.

Dans fine, I'm fine to but forgot to log him off his computer, (Mac OS8!!)
Before my contribution.
He's all jolly and amicable, I'm brooding because we're camping in the vendors section
and not the VIP section of the Phish concert, someones going to pay.
You can't expect me to rub shoulders with vendors without a decernable degradation
in the quality of my art!
I'm even expected to inflate my own air mattress, Who ARE these people?

(lag time to re-read previous previous previous post)
OK ... WELL now ... it makes perfect sense!
Jesus, that's disquieting ...
P.S. O.S 8, huh?
Ask him if he wants to borrow my Newton.
