Hats off to Keith and Steph, two producers who landed a theater in Times Square. They've earned it, working different theaters in NY for a number of years, and giving variety arts a warm place to be. It would be hard to guess whatever bracelet-sized hoops they had to jump through to snatch this location (at 125 west 42nd street), but on Saturday night , at their opening press party, it certainly felt worth it.

Keith and Steph, if you don't know them, have vaudeville bones. If you were at Motionfest, or the IJA renegade stage, you've seen them rock. Its good to work with producers who have tight shows themselves, and these two are a prime example, last night they mc'd and performed right with us, copious joy shining through them clearly. We played to 2 packed houses, not too hard to do as the theater seats 70ish. Money? Gotta talk to the boss on that one: I was in for a piece of the door, which I expect will yield little, as there were many of us...
Talent was everywhere,
Fredini, Coney Island sword swallower of old, outside hawking like a champ.
Pnet's own Jewels, walking up a sword ladder and grinding like every welder's wish.
Nick, (former Stitch partner) fresh from circus school in Canada and crunching cigar boxes like an accountant on speed at a favored adding machine.
Me, trotting out my old bits like a withered horse trainer at a tasty show.
A thinwhispered solo guitar girl, crooning to a Mayfly and holding us spellbound.
A trapeze striptease, and,
All manner of variety, really.
Until word spreads and they can quadruple the 10 dollar entrance fee, this isn't one to do for the cash. If you're in town, though, call Keith and Steph at (718) 963-2918 and see if you can get on the bill. Hell, Hilby and I did the open mike for free, its that festival/lovedance/yummvibe stuff, right in NY. Jump on it.
