Did anybody ever worked for Contraband Days in Lake Charles, Louisiana? It's a two-week pyrate-theme festival, huge attendance, and I've heard that they don't crack down on street performers or peddlers...We were working in Laffayette and everybody was telling us to go there - I contacted them with no luck, so I wonder if it's 'crashable"?

By the way - do not go to Lafayette International festival unless you are booked as a performer, they don't allow to work unless you are on the programm, though they do advertise street performers - they don't have any, except for a Peruviam band...If you manage to get in legally - it's a great festival, just make sure you get a good location (you can check with me, I know their layout by now...)

I lived in Lake Charles off and on over the last 20 years and wouldn't advise even going to Lake Charles.

The local authorities are very repressive and may or may not choose to hassle you. If they do hasle you it will quickly escalate and won't simply be a request to "move on".

The authorities are so abusive of their authority that they have been profiled on several network television shows.

If you do decide to go, be incredibly polite and respectful during any "official entanglements".

Good luck... Dave
