Just got back from working this one.
Did it last year and it was a great festival. Wide open street with very little competition made up for a crappy retainer and substandard Motel 6 airport accomadation.
This year was a different story though. It has always been a very beer heavy festival (youd expect that from Milwaukee) but this year it was taken over by the amber fluid. The festival organiser sort to maximise profits by placing beer vending stalls in every available pitch space totally marginalising the street performers. We were given the great opportunity to perform on what can only be described as peripheral pitches. Add to this the addition to the festival of an extra 4 stages for bands and it made a aural soundscape that was impossible to compete against,
In conclusion.....greed has ruined this festival. Dont apply, it isnt worth it.The organisers dont give enough money to make this worth the hassle of getting their. They dont give you accomodation that is good enough to take the pain away but they do give you a International Airport with moronic security guards that will break your amplifier and radio microphones in front of your face and say it is for national security. Noone cares about you at this festival....as one performer their put it to me....we were ranked lower that McDonalds employees their, not the ones that served the food but the ones that clean the toilets.
