Thanks to alll who have replied to these threads from the international performing community. We are doing a fundraising event in london on the 8th april at st georges theatre 49 tufnell park road and also will be involved with another big fundraiser at the end of May here in London, any one wishing to participate in any such events this summer in uk or organise similar events elsewhere please get in touch for any information you require.
Phi phi has been neglected for various reasons, but so have many other regions and people, Banda ache in indonesia it is the same story i heard from some one who had been there, just local people and a handful of foriegners helping clean up operations, big aid agencies are limited by red tape and govt agendas, it was amazing to be there with so many people actually helping, I hope if you cant come for april but can visit later or are passing through asia at all please visit these regions, there is a network on the ground of people sorting things out and its no problem to find them once you look. check www.hiphiphi.com for more info on phi phi/ krabi / region.
there is a show in krabi on the 12th of april, I am not sure i i can make it back in time but the amazing Frix will be there and I am hoping jacob and Sophie from dream state circus ( fairyfire) will be able to make it over from the island, they will be visiting for a few weeks from the 7th april. there will also be other performers from a french organisation working on this project.
I hope to arrive on 15th april for one month, I will be focussing around phi phi and krabi region but also visiting other islands, the plan is to make performances and workshops for the kids, some mural painting and fundraising shows in the evenings. two boxes of juggling equipment have so far been donated one from oddballs in Uk and one from usa.
I have had some enquiries from an interesting bunch of people and its good to see those who can make the time are willing to, a lot of people have also read the posts and I hope will read the follow ups, theres a lot can be done this end of things too, and not just for the tsunami, thousands of children die daily in africa of preventable diseases, it would be refreshing to see some of the energy raised by this tsunami have a knock on effect for other situations, a bit more compassion all round in the world, insome ways i feel its our responsibility as the clowns of the world to spread it around, we talk to the world, in the streets and stages of a million towns and cities every day !
thanks to all who read the posts and i will continue to update the mission as it progresses, be inspired to take action, we are not alone. keep up th good work you crazy clowns !
