Hello P.Net!

Jimbo and I (2 buskers from Calgary, Canada) are going to New Zealand in February... it turns out we will be there for the International Festival of the Arts in Wellington! I want to know what to expect on the busking scene, as neither of us have busked internationally before. I've contacted the festival weeks ago but I haven't heard anything back.

1. Can we busk at the festival?
2. What kind of permits (if any) are required to busk?
3. If we had to choose between busking in Wellington or the Adelaide Fringe, which would an experienced busker choose?

If anyone knows and could shed some light on this, please let me know!

All of the following information can be found in earlier threads:

The actual festival probably won't give you the time of day. You can try contacting the Fringe Festival - they have a busking olympics event, I think at the end of Feb.

That said February is probably the best time for hitting the streets in Wellington. Depending on whats happening with other fests and those coming through - Christchurch etc, it can be busy, but there are ususally shows for everyone.

Permits are theoretically required and are easy to obtain from the council. If you use "dangerous" props then it's a little more complicated, requiring peer review.

There's probably more, but just give me a bell when you hit town and I'll show you around or answer any other questions you have.
