Shouldn't we have an obituaries forum. I notice several tributs over the last few years, perhaps we could put them in a section of their own.

Eacth obit could have a thread of it's own where those who knew them can pay their respects?

Sadly, I've put up four or five in as many years. I also think a dedicated section would be a better way recognising and remembering those that we have lost.
The posts get lost in other threads and it's sort of sad.

I've wanted to do an obituary type page/section on performers.net since the beginning but I never got around to it.

Starting a dedicated forum is simple and if it grows, someday I can make it into more of a featured part of the site. I like having some kind of tribute or memorial for people who have passed.

So, What should we call it and where should it go?

Suggestions???

Call it " Festival of the Gods' " (watch the tricky apostrophy)subtitled "The Cast and Production Team".

It should be about remembering and celebrating those who've made a mark in their life here and hopefully moved to a greater stage.

Can we find the existing posts and relocate them, I can find mine easily.

I think the likes of Wayne Condo, Delta Dave, Miles McGillicuddy and Doug Kelly and their stories should have a place of their own here. They are only those I've posted there are several others. One of the reasons I don't think they grow is because they are often swamped in the other forums.

I know very little of the young guitarist killed in Melb. two weeks ago but I was moved to write here. Now 140 people know some of his story and one day his family might stumble past and get some consolation from knowing he's recognised in our community's history.

That's the title of a Warren Zevon song that I always think of when I'm exhausted but the day's not over.

Martins are hilarious.

But Peters is in my mind the most appropriate.

Festival of the Gods. That gets my vote. Well done Peter.

I'm considering naming it "Curtain Call"

Any thoughts?

"Those who faced the final curtain."

The High Street in the Sky

Great Acts who's lines are now in the public domain....

I like Curtain Call, but "Festival of the Gods" immortalises those departed.....

"The Final Curtain". I like that.

"Curtain Call" and "Festival of the Gods' " imply that the spirit lives on.
"The Final Curtain" is very final.

I think curtain call is good.

When Ray Charles died I thought to myself, " The All-Star Dead Band" will be on its feet applauding as he enters the room and a walks to the piano.

I suppose "The All-Star Dead Show" (Playing a memory near you) would be a bit irreverend.

just "curtains"

Curtain Call is perfect. It's short, fitting and appropriate.

Another thought:

"Encore"

I think I like "Curtain Call" better, but I'm open to other ideas.

I'm just thinking along the lines of theater...
the end of a performance...
and the crowd wanting more...
the show was over too soon...

something like that.

exit stage right ?
final encore ?
dead end street ?
the great escape ?

"Curtain Calls" still sings.
In P.net's visual design, something has to go in the yellow stripe.

"Curtian Calls" seems perfect but, as the Green Room has Blah, Blah, the headline may also need a subtitle and perhaps a preamble.

I'm going with "Curtain Calls"

I like it a lot.

I'll add it to "The Green Room" under Blah Blah Blah and write up a little description.

I'll go and find all the obit threads I can and move them in there. People can then feel free to add to the threads or start new threads for others that never had any.

I'm insanely busy today and tomorrow, but I'll get it up there on Monday sometime. (Starting the forum is easy, but finding and moving threads takes a bit of time.)

Thanks for getting the ball rolling on this, Jester. Like I said, I've wanted to do it for a while.

If anyone knows of threads that would need to be moved, feel free to flag them for me. Just find them, go to the first comment and click "Report post to moderator." I'll get an email with a link right to the thread.

OK, the "Curtain Calls" forum is up in the Green Room.

I've moved all the obit threads I could find. If anyone knows of others, find them and click the "Report this post to a moderator" link and I'll be notified.

Feel free to start new thread for others who don't have anything yet. (Didn't we have a Wayne Condo discussion? I couldn't find it anywhere.)

Thanks again, Jester. This was a good idea.

Wayne's posts were on the old p.net boards.

I realized that later today. I can probably go dig up that thread from my archives but it may take a while.

Well, OK it didn't take too long.

Here (http://www.performers.net/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=4353) is the Wayne Condo thread.
