You'll have no future with a rola bola. Get yourself a straitjacket. Or a 12 foot pole.

I need the freakin table for my finale-
right now my friend stands on a stack of folding chairs and juggles fire while I stand at the bottom - and do nothing- what we wanted to do was have me on the table on the rola bola- him on the chairs and pass fire- now aint that a finale....
Alex

P.S. will I not have a future- because thats what you do - or will I really not have a future?

I'm only half kidding about your future.

Rola bolas are the new unicycle. Unicycle used to be impressive. Now it's par for the course. Rola bola has become the same thing. Too many people are doing it. Too many audiences have seen it. I can't tell you NOT to do it, but since you're just getting started and you haven't invested years and years into a routine, think about a possible alternative. You're young and creative. Try to think of something totally different that an audience hasn't ever seen before. Or something they may have seen before that you can do differently.

It's your future.

Jim

P.S. You can't just buy a rola bola table. You need to build one. Creativity will come into play here, too.

If you are going to do rola bola, then please do GOOD tricks on it:

Handstands, both hands on the board and then lift your feet, 360 jumps. Just standing on it and juggling is really not enough because the bar has been raised.

The sad thing about many people who want to be street performers is they see someone else and say "I can do that!" instead of, "He's doing that, so what can I do that's different?"

You could always do it on one foot

No way that would be impossible.
How much do you want to pay for a table slightly used?

Jim and Etienne--how right you are! So many acts doing the same old tired identical schtick. I still see stuff that was being done fifty years ago, when I first started. With all the new technology and materials out there, surely we can come up with something new and dazzling? Give the audience, and your hat- a break.

I saw someone doing jump rope on a rola bola in Cologne the other day. But pola bola sounds cool! The table I had has found a home. Do whatever you like to do, It doesnt matter what anyone else thinks.

rolling globe a bola
in line skates a bola
one finger hand stand a bola
beda nails a rola bola
flaming walking ladder - rolling globe - a rola bola - on a tight ropea!
flaming snow board a bola (baked alaska?)
ski pole swallowing hula hoopa rola bola

On my website there is a photo of a guy on stilts atop a rolling globe at the top of a very tall spiraled incline. And photos of stilts on a tight rope, but no stilted rola bola! :>(

Walking tall and stretching imaginations!

Yeah, you just might not like it that much if you're not getting a good response from the aud.

Donīt bother coming up with anything original !! I did 7 years ago when I originated the now much talked about Pole show. It didnt take long for someone to rip it off and then tour around telling everyone that he came up with the idea himself. Now there has got to be at least 4 copies out there, and only one of which bothered to ask me if they could use the idea ( cheers bike boy ), and now just in the last week the latest rip, where a guy i share the pitch with in my home town Fremantle has copied my rig right down to the small aluminium chair on top, that I now use to do handstands on. Iīll give 3 guessīs to anyone who knows the w.a. performers.
Seriously though, there are still a lot of new ideas or variations on old ones, Iīm thinking of them all the time, mainly because I am forced to stay one step ahead of all those that follow. All I can suggest is that as soon as you perfect something new, get it out on the world stage asap, before someone else does before you. That was my mistake !!
Pissed off again

Why not come up with original ways of presenting old ideas? Its not always what we do, but how we do it.
