As far as I know Checkers became irreconcilably disgusted with N.O. (and me, perhaps) after his effort to arrange for licensing of street performers failed. I haven’t seen him by Café DuMond since February or March. Perhaps he went to Chicago – he’d often talked about what great venues there are there. AND they have a street performance licensing program there.
