Dear Jugglers,
Today I read this in the NRC Handelsblad. A big newspaper in the Netherlands. I translated it for you..
With a bowler hat at the cover of 'Taboe'
Dave Parker (1934-2008)
Daver Parker gained succes as 'comedy juggler' in foreign countries. He worked for 10 year in the Crazy Horse Saloon in Paris.

His real name was David Waterman, the son of a tabac shop owner in the Weesperstraat in Amsterdam. But he got his stage name from a ballpoint company. Dave Parker, who passed away yesterday at the age of 73, made an international carreer that hasn't been reached by many other dutch artists.
He performed for 10 years (1962-1972) night after night at the famous spectacle show in the Crazy Horse Saloon in Paris. He also performed in numerous American television shows and for celebrities as Sammy Davis jr and Maurice Chevalier.
His carreer started in 50's of the last century when he did many gigs in the Netherlands. The area where most Dutch performers found their work. He performed some time as visual attraction in the cabaret group of Wim Kan.
Completely dressed in black - shirt, tight trousers and bowler hat - he was in the 60's super modern. Because of that his picture (made by Eddy Posthuma de Boer) was on the cover of the popular youth magazine 'Taboe'
As comedy juggler he manipulated virtuosely and clownesk with balls and cigar boxes. His show also contained a Chaplin imitation, that even the daughter of Chaplin (Geraldine) liked very much.
Untill mid 90's Parker performed for casino's and variety theaters, mostly abroad. Thereafter he retired. Not only because of his age, but also because of another reason. "When I perform for children, I noticed that more and more don't know who Chaplin was at all". But he stayed interested in everything that had to do with the world of variety. He knew a lot and was always willing the share his acknowlegde.
