Racheal,

I think I see where you're going with this. I can dig it. We've all seen commercials where intellegence has not been insulted, and we've actually like the commercial, and I agree that is an art. I know I've seen buskers (unfortunately I can't put myself into this catagory yet) that have done a brilliant job of selling the hat to the audience in order for them to get paid for their show. And I would say this is an art as well.

My point (hunters point being - inside joke for those live in SF) is that I agree with Emerson's main contention that artist has to build a relationship with his audience for what they are doing to be considered art, and not just a product.
