Post Mood Indigo 2013: Asia's Largest college cultural festival

MOOD INDIGO, the annual cultural festival of Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay is the biggest college cultural celebration in Asia. Continuing with its 42 year old legacy, Mood Indigo's next edition will take place from 20th to 23rd December, 2013. Mood Indigo has been successful in attracting a footfall of over 88000 every year, featuring a plethora of events with more than 200 international artists from over 42 countries having graced the Mood Indigo stage hitherto. Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay is one the premier engineering university of the world, and our famous alumni include Nitin Nohria- the Dean of Harvard Business School, Nandan Nilekani- ex-CEO and cofounder of Infosys, and India’s rural development Minister Jairam Ramesh.

Over the years, the Mood Indigo stage has witnessed enthralling performances by the following street buskers:

13. Bence Sarkadi, Hungary
14. Jason Divad, Ireland
15. Chancy Brothers, Ireland
16. Wacky Chad, US
17. Snuff Puppets, Australia


International Outreach : Other performances include the unique concept of MI Studio which was introduced this year to promote zealous collaboration of international western bands like Triotonos from Germany, Spanish Raga from Spain, Art of Fusion, Trania from Malta, and unique Hang Drummer Dejan Stemberger from Slovenia with Snehashish Mozumder and Jal Tarang from India. Innovation was further expanded by introducing the International Street Theaters first time in India lead by Snuff Puppets from Australia, The Chancy Brothers from Ireland and Bence Sarkardi from Hungary. Performances by French-Canadian rock band Simple Plan and 2-time B-Boying world champions Gamblerz Crew from South Korea also graced the Mood Indigo pedestal. In the past, Katatonia, one of the biggest Swedish heavy metal bands, the Australian progressive rock band Karnivool and Porcupine Tree, progressive rock band from UK have culminated their world tour with electrifying performances at Mood Indigo. Also, in a unique showcase of legendary Japanese art of Sumo wrestling, Indian audience witnessed for the first time a live performance by World Champion Sumo wrestlers in 2010.

Over the years, the Mood Indigo stage has witnessed enthralling performances by Extreme Artist Jean Francois, Ehud Segev-The Mentalizer from Israel, niche music bands like Lucy swan and Droolian from Norway, Caladh Nua from Ireland, AkashA from Malaysia and Slow Joe and the Ginger accident from France, Graffiti artist Loomit from Germany, Cile-One man Band from Croatia, Ensiferum from Finland, Minino Garay from Argentina, No-fit State Circus from UK, Shuffle Demons from Canada, the renowned Jan Akkerman with his band from Netherlands, Tararam, a jazz drumming group (after spell-bounding the spectators at the Athens Olympics) from Israel, Glass Duo from Poland , 3-D painter Tracy Lee Stum from USA and many more unique performances showcasing culture from a spectrum of countries.
