Default Passport or Yamaha?

Hi Folks, I'm new here so forgive me if I'm retreading covered ground. I did do a search but didn't turn up the info I was looking for.

Im needing a sound system for performances and I've narrowed it down to the Passport PD-250 and the Yamaha stagepas 300. These both seem like what I need for power, portability and sound. What do you guys think? Are these good choices? Any other system you'd recommend?

Any suggestions on lavaliers? I keep hearing that shure and Sennheiser are the names to go with. Do you agree? Anything in particular I should be looking for? Thanks everyone. Chris

Im not going to pretend to be an expert on the subject. However I think you will get better advice on what sound system you need if you let us know what type of performance you do and what type of places you perform in. (ie Street, Schools, Hotel Ballrooms, etc).

I personally use a taxi crate. For street shows and as a back up in case where Im performing dosen't have a decent system.

I have used a yamaha for the last year and it is fantastic but you need to plug it in!
I think that Anchor may be the way ahead. It comes with built in battery and radio mike.

The passport really packs a punch.

For larger indoor shows I've used a passport in the past. I know use (and prefer) mackie speakers.

For street shows I use a crate amp (like most other performers) which wouldn't be good enough for indoor events.
