Question Fender Passport or Yamaha Stagepas?

Hey all!

My technological ineptness is finally catching up to me. Looking at buying a sound system capable of competing with all the noise at an outdoor festival. I'm hoping to buy a system which has enough power for a large circle show. I found two systems that I like:

Yamaha Stagepass 500
http://www.stevesmusic.com/index.php...oducts_id=6524

and Fender Passport 500
http://www.stevesmusic.com/index.php...oducts_id=6519

They're 500 watt systems (250W per speaker-as I understand it). Is that enough power for a busker festival where you're competing with music, other pitches and loud crowds? Has anyone worked with these systems? Which do people prefer? Both boast portability but I'd rather forego portability than invest in something which doesn't have enough power!

Any help is appreciated!

I've used the Fender for years and I have been very satisfied with quality and flexbility. 500 watts will easily work in under the conditions you describe.
Don't have experience with the Yamaha system.

Have you checked out Carvins battery powered pa. I'm sold on their products and this looks like a winner. You can even buy an additional speaker to go along with the main unit. Worth checking out.

Used a passport for years. I like them, but they need 5-12 minutes of busywork before each show. It gets old. Think I'll just grab an Anchor next time.
