I have my first gig tomorrow doing some chalk art for a corporate event. Can someone telll me about what I should charge, how long it should take anything at all that can help would be appreciated. This job came out of the blue, I only heard about it today and I feel sick like you wouldn't believe because we need the money so bad, but I haven't done this before (I can do chalk art, I just haven't been paid before)

Kate,
I realise that what was "tomorrow" is now today, so I hope that your event went well. For information on fees etc, I suggest that you have a browse through the P.net library- there's some brilliant stuff there. I only started thinking about fees a few months ago, and I think that the way forward if trial and error- see how willing people are to part with the amount you request, and adjust accordingly. I guess that this advice isn't overly useful in such an immediate situation, but as I am probably writing this whilst you are performing anyway, I hope you won't mind. Good luck, Neil
