I don't think so, unless you've been in SF and I booked your act at the Climate Theater or the Odeon Bar. Or unless you ever went to the Roxy, a restaurant in Portland, which I once owned in another life...

Default Music: Maple Leaf Rag (WIP) Presto 161 bpm

This is with a metronome, so it is steady. The tempo is presto (161). This is a work in progress.

Thanks for watching my work.

Sincerely, Josh Weiner from NYC

Was this comment about "freedom of choice"? Do you know how many innocent lives have been destroyed by the drug industry and illegal drugs?

Not a damn one!! People are NOT "destroyed" by an industry, nor anything illegal. They are destroyed by the choices THEY MADE. Except in rare instances every adult is where he is today because of choices they made not because some entity forced those choices on him.

Every chackhead, every heroin addict, every alcoholic and whore made choices in their lives that led them to where they are today and they have to choose to get help aqnd break the addiction to go to a better life.

Guitar Oopsy!

Gee josh, I was just making a joke, a very old joke at that. The original "Just say no" campaign that I know of was lead by Nancy Reagan in the 1980's.
As far as your question, yes, I am well aware of the statistics concerning death from drugs of all types both licit and illicit.
(btw, whether or not a medicinal substance is deemed licit or illicit is based on politics, not on how dangerous or therapeutic said substance may be.)

eg. Tobacco -400,000 deaths
alcohol - 100,000 deaths
suicide - 31,000 deaths
homicide - 18,000 deaths
ALL licit and illicit drug induced deaths - 17,000 deaths
NSAID's (such as aspirin) -17,000 deaths
marijuana - 0 deaths
All #'s from 1998, rounded off by me, readily available statistics.

so Josh, I am going to presume that your heart is in the right place, but when we talk about complicated matters, there are no simple answers.
For example, every morning I make a choice to take a rather large dose of aspirin. I need to weigh the therapeutic benefits that are the reason it is prescribed, versus the real side effects. I make similar choices involving what foods I eat, whether and how much I exercise, how safely, (or IF) I drive, etc.... So far I am reasonably happy with the balance I try to strike between living healthy and enjoying life...This is part of why I persist in being a musical/street performer. It's not the most lucrative activity, but it is SO much fun, and I haven't been forced to live "hand to mouth" since the 1980's.
I actually know someone, a fellow busker, who recently died of heart failure. I have to guess that his long and varied history of substance abuse, both licit and illicit, may have been a contributing factor in his failure to survive. It is really difficult for me to think of him as "innocent." I believe that his eyes were wide open, he made his choices, and even knowing the outcome, it is hard to imagine that he would have changed a thing.
Ciao - Kevin M.

Default No, it's totally personal.

@peter
@harmonicakev

"Because when you assume, you make an ass out of you... and me".
Mr. Tony Randall as Felix Unger on the television show Odd Couple.

Dead wrong. This is personal.
Don't preach at me, or show irrelevant rationalizations.

Sorry Josh but it may very well be personal to you. But your basic assumption is off base. People or companies do not force individuals into harmful behaviour. The individual still has, until it is taken away by the addiction, free will and the ability to make choices. After nearly 70 years on this plane I have been in many places where I could have (and did on several occasions) made choices that were harmful to myself. In every case where I made a "bad" choice I was able to make the decision to change away from that course in my life.

You are the one making assumptions.
