Default Alan Clay, 4 Day Connecticut Clown Wshop June

June 16/19th inclusive Alan Clay will be holding a workshop in the sleepy village of cornwall bridge in Connecticut.
I'm organising it mainly because Alan was instrumental in my career in teaching me a 10 week clown school back in 83 and I worked with him for two years following that.
He runs a studio called Playspace in Sydney.
I recommend him because I think he's got a rare ability to cut to the heart of what it is that you as an individual need to learn to further your investigations.
www.artmedia.com.au/Clown.htm
Contains more info re fees.
Its min 6 max 12 and I have around 9 interested at this stage.
Accomidation, will be a mixture of Karls church, an old farmhouse and my place and I've rented the hall.
e-mail queries to me.

" The comic fool earns his living by an openly acknowedged failure to attain to the normal standard of human dignity."

It's shameless but if I plonk something up here every day for a week then I'll keep the thread alive.

Clown

The fool's characteristics traits are very much those of a "natural man". Lacking social graces and blissfully operating outside the laws of logic, he is often seen as a child or even an animal, but only rarely as a mature adult - his perceptions are too crudely structured, his use of language a parody of normal speech. Unimpressed with sacred ceremonies or the power of rulers, he is liable to be openly blasphemous and defiant; uninhibited in sexual matters, he often delights in obscene humor.

Yo Bozos,

If you are considering this workshop, jump now. The enrollment so far is 100% people whose acts I respect, (me, no less) and it looks like a bang-up week of creativity in the Berkshire Foothills. Call Martin to see if there's space.

Knowing Martin as I do, and having heard him speak of Alan as his teacher over the years, I'm grateful we have an opportunity with the man on this side of the planet.
Jump.

I would LOVE to attend, but am much too busy this time of year. Hope to be in OZ next January and February. Maybe then?

The phrase "an embarrassement of riches." comes to mind.
We've got a clown from england who's famous for never choking.
We've got a clown from LA who's been prepared to have his anus sewed up for laughs.
We've got a clown whos a tall, craftily disguised, insecure, overcompensating blabber-mime.
We've got a clown whos confusion and failure and ability to surmount these reminds me of a hybrid of a puppy, an hour old colt, and bambi, with an advanced degree in comedy.
We have a clown who keeps a small wooden lidded box that contains the applause of thousands.
We have a clown who's profoundly influential and who's impractical dreams have a strange inevitability
We have a clown of whom I know nothing.
We have possibily a clown who's just left jango edwards last week in Europe to attend.
We have room for one or two more clowns but they might have to sleep on couches or in tents as we're getting pretty clownladen.
Still they're welcome.
We have a lovely venue and a wonderful cook.
