Hello all,
I was speaking with someone named Chris Dray in Whitehorse in regard to the 2006 Longest Days Street Festival. Their funding came through a little later than expected and they are seeking acts that are willing to travel to Whitehorse, Yukon. Their event runs from June 21-July 31, 2006 and they are looking for acts to book. I believe they are offering flights, accommodations and negotiable rates. He has advised me that the hats can be a little sparse, so please consider this when you submit your rates package. His contact info is cdray@yac.ca Dan, a Balloon Man |

I want to warn anyone thinking of going ot this festival that the crowds are quite small - i did a few shows for less than ten people. The festival is held in an isolated town of 25,000 people and it shows.
On the good side the shows are in the afternoon so you have your evenings free. This allowed me to go to movies, a concert, dinner and other things I usually can't do on a working day. The accomodation for me was good but some other performers had to change hotels 3 or 4 times in 7 days. If anyone on here is thinking of going there are also other performers who post on here who went last year. The organizers put up money, accomodation, food, and transport, but it was pretty lame spending a week in July working streets that were often empty (not figuratively, I mean actually empty). -Aaron

Hello all,
As I had mentioned, the event organizers have indicated that the hats can be "sparse" and you should factor this in to your quotes. The event organizer was quite "up front" with me and had indicated that this is not so much a "festival" as adding some flair to the downtown area. I have factored this in to my quote and I am looking forward to experiencing Whitehorse. I have also heard through the grapevine that "The Green Fools" from Calgary may be heading up the entertainment gathering for this event. |

Yep, Whitehorse is something, long built, barely no crowd, decent hat but the more interesting part of it is the drunks natives that try to screw up your show.Last year i had a couple of idiots wanted to fight and knife pull on me after one show.I know it doesnt sound so fun! but the crew is awesome, the crowds are so nice and fun and you can party all day ,the sun never go down.
have fun -eric here the pitch a couple of minute before one show |
